Our group went two different directions this morning. Bro. Moyer along with Lito Reyes, Dan Christians, Daniel Fittro and Tim Gomez left at 6am to catch a boat ride to the island of Negros. Bro. Apusen stayed in Panay Island with Sam Gomez, Rossana Gomez, Barbara Kiel, Jennifer Opherman, Lydia Leong, Esther Leong and Sherilyn Powers.

We left to go to the extension classes of IBC at 8:15 this morning. The extension classes are like neighborhood Bible clubs where children are invited to go to a home in their neighborhoods to be taught Bible stories and also the plan of salvation. On one of these neighborhoods, the rain came down so hard we had to stay in our vehicle for a few minutes in order not to get soaking wet. Once the rain stopped, we proceeded to the house to conduct Bible lessons to the children that gathered there. The ladies taught the children various children’s songs and also taught several Bible lessons. The children were very attentive.
From the extension classes we went to the city garbage dump. This garbage dump is not like any garbage dump we would see in the United States. There were hundreds of people living at the very edge of the garbage dump. The people would wait for the garbage trucks to come in so they can have the first chance of getting to the garbage. They would look for anything that can be sold so they can have money for food and other necessities. Children would climb up the garbage trucks before they are even inside the dump so they can pick items before anyone else. To say that it was a pitiable way to exist is an understatement. The poorest of the United States would be considered well-off compared to these men, ladies and children. It was a heartbreaking scene.
The workers of IBC has a ministry to the people living at the garbage dump on Saturdays. They also bring these people to church on Sundays to IBC.
The ladies were able to teach children, who gathered together for an impromptu meeting, Bible stories and songs. As is the case with the extension classes, these children were very receptive.
After the ladies were done with the Bible stories, a group of older children were assembled in another area and Bro. Apusen preached a salvation message. Several people got saved.
Lunch was at Chow King today.
After lunch, Ricky Martin took the group to a nearby gun range to do a little target shooting.
At 3pm, we were off again to do some door-to-door soulwinning. The people we spoke to were very receptive to the Gospel and in less than thirty minutes, we were able to see seven adults trust Christ as their Savior.
After going door-to-door, we went to a house in the neighborhood and the ladies once again taught songs and Bible lessons to a group of children who were gathered there.
The last ministry stop for the day was to a flood relocation center. This housing development was started last year to provide shelter for the flood victims of Typhoon Frank. Our group from last year had a part in helping get a ministry started in this center. Some of the people led to the LORD last year are still going to IBC today. The population in this center has grown much from last year.
We gathered about 40-50 children and the ladies taught them a Bible lesson and some songs.
Before heading back to the hotel, we were taken to the Martin’s residence for dinner. The Martins have been a very hospitable host to us. They are truly servants of God. It is an honor to be around them.
It’s been a great day with many saved. Thank you for reading our blog.
